open with paint

I let my kids use paint on my computer now when i double click on my word
documents an error message comes back cant open with paint. I have gotten
around the problem by left clicking and clicking the open button but would
like to be able to open with the double click.

In Windows Explorer, right click a .doc file and select Open With, then Choose Program. In the box that comes up, select Microsoft Word and put a checkmark in the box at the bottom that says Always use the selected program...
