'Paint' is trying to open Word files

For some reason, PAINT is the program that is trying to open all my WORD
programs in my documents.
Dont know how this has happened but message comes up that I can't open these
files with Bitmap.
Paint has obviously become my default file opener in my documents. Any idea
how I can reverse this?
I can press OPEN WITH word every time I click on a folder - but its a bit
monotonous!

When you do the "open with," do not choose Word. Instead, choose "other
program" and on the resulting screen, mark the "always use" box and then
select Word.
