Problems with new DVD Burner installation

A

Alfie

Hello,
I have recently installed a new DVD Burner in My compaq Presario
s5190UK (Pent 4)I had to remove the existing DVD reader.and the new
DVD burner is slave to a CD writer, jumpered as Cable select (the same
as the removed DVD rom), burnt 2 discs no problem,

I then installed an extra Hard drive (80GB) and my Burner now refuses
to burn! Burns cd's ok but my computer doesnt seem to want to see it
as a DVD Burner anymore, everytime I try my Burning software (Power
Producer) comes up with the message Drive not ready, I have
reinstalled Driver for DVD Burner/removed burner and reinstalled,
checked all connections inside, All I can think is that somehow
putting the new hard drive (80 GB) has upset the relationship between
my computer and the new burner,

Any suggestions would be very welcome !

Alfie, try removing the CD writer and moving the DVD burner to Master. Is
your Power Supply at least 300W?
