Lite on DVD Burner

I know I should be asked Liteon this question but I have
e-mailed them and posted on there message board and no
response. The problem I m having with my DVD burner is the
fact it would read DVD's it will read cds like Metallica
music or like office 2000 cd, but I put in a DVD like
Spiderman and does not detect I go to my computer click on
the drive and the drive icon does not even change, has my
DVD burner laser gone bad? I was thinking it was a bad DVD
but I used some mine I've played on it before and they as
well don't work, what I have done to troubleshoot was put
the DVD in another DVD just ROM drive, worked fine, made
the DVD drive master instead of slave, reinstalled
firmware, used another hard drive with xp nothing any
suggestions on what's wrong?

o yeah the dvd burner model is ldw 411 s 4x burner
also I was thinking of calling them instead of e-mailing
are 1-888 toll free?

All of the 1-888 numbers that I've called are toll free. The drive may be
out of alignment. I know that they can recalibrate the laser but have no
idea what the cost might be.

haha that would cost way to much how would the laser
become unalined? if its under one year old i think theres
an rma but 8x is out you should just but the 8x ver and
return it with the 4x one.

The manual for my NEC DVD burner mentions sending the drive in for
recalibration. No idea how they become unaligned. Vibration while
operating, I imagine.
