problems with log on

I have win 2000 pro, and by mistake I altered some information in the network
identification (it used to be identified with a domain, but I think I chose
the "without domain" option). And after restarting my computer I was not able
to log on. I'm sure I typed both the username and password right. What can I
do about this? I'd prefer not to reinstall windows, so I hope there's another
way to solve the problem.. I hope someone can help me!

Do you still have access to the network/domain? If so, take the computer
back to the office and ask the domain admin to rejoin you. You've
effectively locked your keys in the car by changing to a workgroup w/o
knowing (or changing) the local admin credentials....I'd hope the domain
admin knows them.

If you don't need this PC to belong to a domain anymore, see if any of these
helps:

and/or

and/or

You will probably need to take ownership of the old profile folder if you
were storing data in that path, after you get in.

Disjoining the domain destroyed the client/ domain trust. You'll need to
physically reconnect to the domain and rejoin it to the domain. You can
logon locally with any valid local account. The cached domain account
information is no longer available. Ask the systems administrator to rejoin
the pc back to the domain.

By changing the computer from the domain to a workgroup, you have
destroyed the trust between the domain and the machine. In doing so,
you have also rendered any domain login credentials as invalid. You
need to be physically connected to the domain network, you need to
have administrative privileges to the workstation, and you need to
have administrative privileges on the domain. Then you can add the
machine back on to the domain, after having first deleted the
computer's old domain account (unless you've also renamed the
computer).

Hi,
Do you have the original local computer administrative login. If so login
locally and re-join the domain or configure the machine for workgroup use. If
you do not have the local computer administrative login I would recomend
winternals erd commander or simular. You need to reset the local admin info
so taht you can login. If I am rabbit trailing on you clarify and I will
respond.
Ras.
