Problems trying to defrag

My computer has been running slow and I'd like to defrag,
but when I try to analyze the disk before actually
defragging it stops at about 10% and says it can't continue
because there a file with an error. The file is in some
application data for AIM. I've tried deleting it, but
Windows won't let me for some reason. Defrag won't run
unless I delete that file (I'm guessing) because there's no
way to bypass or skip it.

How can I get rid of that corrupted file so I can run the
defrag program?

Try opening cmd prompt,type:CHKDSK C: /F
Enter yes for restart, then when the text returns to
normal type:EXIT Restart computer,after restart,re-open
cmd prompt,type:Defrag C:
C: being youre hd,use the disk clean-up utility before
Defrag
