Problem with XP Shutdown

Hello, I am running Windows XP Professional, SP2. For about a month now, I'm
experiencing an intermittent problem when I shut down my PC. About half the
time, after I've used Outlook and closed it successfully, my Shutdown hangs
up and a box appears that shows that "Outlook.exe" has to close before the
system can shut down. If I click "End Task", I usually get another box and
have to click "End Now", and then the shutdown continues. If I go to the
Task Manager, it doesn't show Outlook still being open, so why does it make
me "End Task" for Outlook.exe. I am totally mystified, and would appreciate
any advice/ideas, etc. Thanks so much!

Make sure that Outlook.exe is closed.

Open Task Manager | Click the Processes tab | Click the Image name header to
alphabetize the list and look for Outlook.exe | Make sure that there is not
more than one

Outlook.exe may be a worm/trojan/virus.

Do a Search on your machine for Outlook.exe and make sure that you only have
one Outlook.exe.

The real Outlook.exe should be in ...

%homedrive%\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office##\Outlook.exe
or
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office##\Outlook.exe

The Office## folder depends on what version of MS Office you have.

Microsoft Office 2000 = 9
Microsoft Office XP = 10
Microsoft Office 2003 = 11
