Problem with USB keyboard when instralling Windows XP.

I am using Windows XP. I have available 4 USB keyboards. They all have the
same problem. PS2 keyboards do not have the problem. Unfortunately I also
have a "lenovo" computer which does not have any PS2 ports. Only USB ports!

The problem always occurs when I enter the Windows XP installation disk from
outside Windows XP. It also always occurs when I enter Windows XP from
inside Windows XP and I select the "New Installation (Advanced)" option .
The "Upgrade (Recommnded)" option entered from inside Windows XP does not
suffer the problem.

There is no problem typing in a "Product Key", but when it comes to the
screen marked "To continue installing Windows XP press Enter", the program
fails to respond to an "ENTER" keystroke. The program has frozen and cannot
continue.

Looks like I don't have any way of reinstalling Windows XP, unless I buy a
new computer.

From my perspective it is a universal truth that Windows XP cannot be
installed with a USB keyboard, only a PS2 keyboard. Why do I NOT see a lot
of discussion of this fact in the newgroups?

who knows why there
ain't more discussion
about this sub relative
issue.

however the issue pertaining
to the lenovo may already
be discussed at the lenovo
homesite.

but if i recall usb's were not
marketed and sold until
maybe the beginning of
2000 or 2001. reasonably usb
keyboards would have
been marketed sometime
after the above dates.

the initial windowsxp was
released around that
same time period and
would not have included
usb drivers until the release
of the sp's later.

at this point i am not
sure which release has
what.
