Problem with TS CAL

Guest

We are using a 2000 Terminal Server to run apps for our CE.NET 4.1 handhelds
to connect to. Recently I am unable to connect to the terminal server using a
specific unit using Remote Desktop. I am unable to remote into any other
server except for our Terminal Server.

The name of the unit is PPT8800. When I look in my License sever there is a
TS CAL being used for the name 'PPT8800' and it gives an expiration date. It
is still within the active time for the license, yet it still is unable to
connect.

Any ideas?

What error message do you get when you try to connect?
Anything in th´e ventLog on the server?

On the client we get a message saying "The connection was ended because of a
network error. Please try connecting again". This particular unit has been
able to connect to that server in the past and continues to connect to
different servers, and other handhelds can connect to the TS fine, so it's
nothing wrong with the network connection.
On the TS we get Event ID 1004 - "The terminal server cannot issue a client
license". On the licensing server we have 10 TS licenses and only 9 are being
used (1 of which is the leftover time period from a license given to this
client previously. Thanks.

OK, there are a number of problems which are specific to thin
clients, regarding license retrieval.
You can try if it helps to delete the locally stored license by
resetting the client to the factory defaults.
You should also update the client with the latest firmware.
If that doesn't help, check these hotfixes:

827355 - Event ID 1004 is logged when a thin client tries to obtain
a Terminal Services license
