Problem with SP2

I've been trying to install service pack 2 but my PC keeps restarting on bootup. I've
had to boot in safe mode and return to a previous restore point in order to use the PC.
I read on the knowledgebase that there is a problem with PC's that have an AMD
Athlon 64 bit processor, is this true and if so what can I do about it?

I have an:

AMD Athlon 64 FX-51 running at 2 GHz with 1 GB of Ram and a Radeon 9800XT
video card and a Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card. I also have windows XP home.
