problem with powerpoint figures in word

Hello everyone,

The scenario is the following: I created some simple drawings in
powerpoint consisting entirely of powerpoint's builtin shapes and
color schemes.

I'm encountering the following problem when inserting these powerpoint
figures into word in two different scenarios. The two scenarios
differ in the method in which I copy the powerpoint figure.

1. When I click on the main powerpoint window and click "control + a"
for "select all", then copy, then paste into the word document, the
drawing has the following problem:
- When printing with acrobat 7 or microsoft's "save as pdf"
functionality, the drawing does not display at all, instead leaving a
blank placeholder. The only partially satisfactory work around I have
for this so far is to save as Word 97-2003 document and then print
accordingly. (partially because saving as Word 97-2003 has its own
issues)

2. When I click on the slide on the left hand preview strip, then
copy, then paste into word, the drawing has the following problem:
- When normally working with the document, the drawing takes much
longer to respond, often leaving me waiting for seconds at a time
whenever I scroll past the drawing. This does not happen in scenario
#1 above.
- When printing with acrobat 7, it prints correctly, but when printing
with microsoft's "save as pdf" functionality, it reports the error:
"The export failed due to an unexpected error"

I have a link with an example document here:

Any help with these is greatly appreciated!

This may not resolve the problem you describe here, but when I bring
PowerPoint images into Word, I never just copy/paste. This can result in the
“hanging†of Word as you scroll past, increase file size dramatically, and
could cause a corruption of the Word file.
Within PowerPoint I tend to use Save As and choose one of the following
formats (depending on the type of image and results wanted), .png, .jpg, .wmf
or .emf.
The resulting file can then be inserted using Insert, Picture from file to
insert the image into the required position in the Word document.
I am constantly using Acrobat 7 and have never seen the results you described.
Note: you can change the quality of PowerPoint extract by using the Tools,
Web Options, Picture dialog when in the Save As dialog box. Beware of file
size changes. Have a play and settle on the best combination for the results
you are after.
Hope this helps.
