problem with opening unknown files

hi, i clicked a type of file that windows did not know
which program to use to open it. I then accidently
selected a program with the check box "always open with
this program". how do i set it back to an unknown file?

You would need to delete that file type in the registered files. What is the
file extension and what type of file is it? Someone here may be able to
identify it and let you know which program it can be associated with.

Folder Options> File Types. Select the extension and click Delete.
