problem with installation with the file "product.cab"

I've been trying to install the Windows Defender Beta 2 in my computer since
a few weeks ago, but i receive allways the same message

"The cabnet file Product.cab is corrupt and cannot be used, this could
indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-Rom, or a problem with
this package."

The last time I downloaded it (after using the tune Up And Fix Up Function
of the Safety.Live.com page, doing a defrag and scandisc, deleting temp
files, etc), i directly receive an error of windows when trying to open the
..exe file..

please, could someone help me? thank you

I have Windows XP Pro SP2 (spanish), Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 (english)
(but it happened the same with ie 6) in a NEW Computer (i bought it a few
weeks ago) AMD Athlon 64 2.41GHz with 1G RAM

P.S..: I downloaded the last vrsion of Windows Installer 3.1 but the
installation file seems to be "corrupt". Does this have a conection with the
Windows Defender Installation problem?

You do need the Windows Installer 3.1 and any critical updates related to it
that may have been issued since.
