Problem with IE when starting IE

Hi to all. I seem to have encountered a problem with IE. When I start IE the
IE window appears but it appears to remain blocked for some seconds and not
completely shown. Then, after that period of time, it becomes fully
functional. If after this happens I start other windows of IE the problem
doesn't appear on those new windows.... but if I wait a while and then start
another IE the same problem appears.

My privacy settings is Medium HIgh, I'm blocking pop-ups and using the blank
page as start up page.Active X is disabled. Active Scripting is enabled.

I'm using Windows Server 2003 with SP1 and my IE version is 6.0.3790.1830.
I'm not sure but this seems to have happened after I had made a restart on
the PC after some Microsoft Updates were downloaded.

Can anybody help?Thanks in advance.

Hi Ricardo,

It sounds like a Browser Helper has been installed into IE. Thus it takes
longer to load the first instance. This may have come with the Windows
Update as MS is shipping security improvements for IE.

You can easily test if this is the case by disabling Browser Helpers and
re-starting IE.

You will find an option to 'Enable third-party browser extensions' on the
Advanced tab of Internet Options (Tools>Internet Options)

If you can check what was installed with the windows update - go to the
update site and review your install history. Also, was it an authentic
windows update from the Microsoft web site or was the update received from
an email.

Whatever, you should also install anti-spy software and an Internet
firewall. Most PC's come with this pre-installed.
Spybot-Search & Destroy and Zone Alarms are two freeware products that you
may like to try, but I have found the investment in commercial products is
worth it.

Hi!Thaks for the reply,

Unfortunally the solution to disable Third-party extensions didn't work. I
only needed to restart IE after this (and not the PC), right?

It was an authentic microsoft update, I received it by the automatic update
feature. The new updates were these:

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - November 2005
Security Update for Windows Server 2003 (KB896424)

Could any of these caused this problem? Anyohter solution?

Also, regarding the anti-spyware tool, is there a secure online tool?I
didn't want much to install stuf on the PC...

Thanks for the help

mmm...
don't know why it is slow loading. According to the doco for the Security
patch this addressed a security issue with some graphics file types, this
may cause a delay for additional processing if you are loading a home page
(I guess? Try loading about:blank to test)

The third party extensions test only requires that your restart IE. Correct
