Problem with DVDs

I used to play a DVD just fine when I first got the drive for my computer,
back when I had Windows 98 loaded. I've since upgraded several components
including a new mobo, memory, graphics card, upped to Windows XP...pretty
much everthing has been replaced except the case, floppy, and dvd drives.

But since then, I've tried 3 DVD programes (and their decoders for Windows
Media Player 10). PowerDVD and PowerCinema both cause memory errors and
crash the programs in both their standalone programs and media player.
WinDVD works, but for some reason it refuses to output a signal if I hook my
computer to a TV/HDTV (which I want to be able to do).

Could my DVD drive itself be the issue? The only time I get a memory error
is when I try to play a DVD, so I'm guessing that's not the issue.

Sorry to reply to my own message, but I seem to be unable to edit my post...

To clear it up I'm thinking memory isn't the issue, I have 1GB of ram that's
compliant with my mobo.

The dvd drive shouldn't be a problem if it works with WinDVD, so it has to
be software.
You may find that upgrading the firmware for the drive may help.
As for outputting to a tv, only very high level graphics cards can output
video to two monitors at the same time, so either turn your acceleration off

Or set the tv as the primary monitor.
Don't forget to set it back to the pc when done.
