Problem with dates when running Access 97 on Windows xp

I am having problems with the date function (Date) and some query expressions
when I run the mde file (created with access 97 on Windows 2000 pc) on
windows xp running access 97. If I make a mde file on the windows xp pc,
everything works fine on xp but I get the same problems when I run that mde
on windows 2000 pc. I have the following references checked:
1) Visual Basic for Applications
2) Microsoft Access 8.0 Object Library
3) Microsoft DAO 3.51 Object Library
4) Microsoft Excel 8.0 object Library

Can anyone point out what am I missing, how can I still create a mde on
windows 2000 pc and make it work on both windows 2000 and windows xp pc.

(Background: We have the access database developed with Access 97. All the
users have Windows 2000 pcs. But some users got switched to Windows xp and
are having problems with certain things in the database - only win xp users
are experiencing those problems)

Which office are you using in the windows xp, it might not find the Microsoft
Excel 8.0 object Library
The best thing is, to install access on the XP, and check the reference of
the MDB on the xp, to see if anything is missing.

I have Office 2003 with Access 97 on the windows xp. All the references for
the MDB are there on windows xp - no missing references.
