problem with color quality

hi

I had windows sp and it was working well, and I bought a new sp2 CD and
installed it on my computer, but a very strange matter happened
The color quality is set to 16 bit, when I try to raise it to 32 the
computer restarts immediately with no messages, after restarting the colors
is still 16 bit, and there is no changes, I tried to troubleshoot the problem
but it was in vain

Please help

Try updated drivers from your vid card manu.web site, NOT win update

Update drivers from mfg,then go to run typeXDIAG Run the direct X utility.
