problem with cdrom

sometimes imy cd rom does not read any disks
i get this error in the event viewer

The drive may need cleaning or may need to be replaced. Have also seen that
error message when a cd is damaged but since the errors show up when the
drive is not reading any cds, it sounds like the problem is with the drive.

thank you upon futher investigation i have also found this error message
could this be the real cause of the problem? Windows Operating System

Good. It's a lot less expensive to replace a cable than a drive. Good luck
