Problem using Defrag.

S

Steve.

Hi!,
I have been trying to perform a Defrag on my C: drive &
keep getting the following error message from DfrgFat.exe
when I try to either Analyze or Defragment the C: drive:

"The instruction at "0x77f5310f" referenced memory
at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written"."

Also from within the Disk Defragmenter main window, the
message:

"(C:) The connection to the defragmenter engine has been
lost. Restart defragmentation."

I have succesfully Dragmented my other drives, but just
can't get the C: drive tidied up & it needs it the most.
Can anyone help?

Many thanks.

Steve.

If you install diskeeper you will never even think
about defragging again well worth the $

If there is a problem with the file system, then even a 3rd party
defragmenter can have problems.

I would suggest running a CHKDSK /F /R on the drive and see if it
detects/fixes any inconsistencies with the file system. If you still have
problems, try running in Safe Mode.
