I recently reinstalled Windows XP Pro (SP2 - all files up to date), and I
seem to be having a problem shutting down explorer.exe when powering down my
system. I have to terminate it with the "End Now" window which eventually
pops up, and sometimes that doesn't even work, in which case, I have to
press the power button to switch the computer off. I also used to be able to
terminate it using Windows Task Manager, but since reinstalling (clean)
Windows, it refuses to shut down, giving the message "The operation could
not be completed" "Access is denied" in an "Unable to Terminate Process"
window. I'm the only user on this system, and I have administrator access.
Anyone know how to fix this?
