problem running older software

I have Windows XP with software pack 2 on my computer.

I have installed two older programs that ran fine on Windows 98 on an old
computer, but can not run them in XP. In each case, when I start the program,
I get an error message for an .icd file.

The two error codes that appear (for the two different programs) are
Oxc0000094 and Oxc0000005. Any ideas 1) what these error codes mean? and 2)
how I can fix the problem and run the software?

Already tried running the windows compatability program (version 3.0) and
running the programs using different compatability modes - Windows 95, 98 +
Me, etc, but with no effect.

Thanks for any input.

What are the applications in question?
Are there updates for the programns in question - that *are* Windows XP
ready?

Some just won't run under XP. You could run Microsoft Virtual PC, which is
free, and run them in Dos inside VPC, or look for upgraded, XP compatible
versions. Other options are to get a separate computer to run them under
Win98, or dual boot Win98 and XP on the same system and run them under
Win98.

If you say what programs they are maybe someone will have had experience
with them.
