Problem opening PowerPoint attachments in Office 2003

When opening an .ppt file from Outlook 2003 the system tries to
reinstall it's older verion of Powerpoint 2000. If you open
Powerpoint first the file opens without any problems.

Powerpoint 2003 is installed, the Office installation was just
upgraded from Office 2000. Old Office was uninstalled using the
Office 2003 cleanup utility 'OFFCLN.EXE'.

Has anyone seen this behaviour.
