Problem making Star Downloader play nice with Firefox

I've been having problems getting streaming media files to play in
Firefox, because Star Downloader always pops up and wants to download
them instead. I went into Star Downloader's options and removed those
file types, but it still kept opening for them. Finally, I had to
uninstall Star Downloader and just use Firefox's own downloader, but I'm
not completely happy with that, either, because I can't find any way to
integrate it with Norton Anti-Virus.

I'm using the last freeware version of Star Downloader and I'm currently
on Firefox 9.3 -- but the problem began at least one version back.
Firefox is still asking me in the download dialog if I want to use Star
Downloader, which makes me wonder if there's something in the Firefox
preferences I could adjust to make Star Downloader behave the way I want
it to.

Can anybody give me any advice on this?

I don't know if this will help but every time I don't want to use star
downloader for something I go to options and uncheck enable browser
integration and it works for me then I just recheck it when I'm done

Using Firefox8 (because I am happy with it) my problem is the reverse.
I want Star Downloader to handle all downloads but periodically
Firefox downloader jumps in and grabs the download. When the download
breaks I can't restart as I can with Star. Any fix for this one?
