Problem Installing Vista (Hardware i think)

Hi, i am trying to install Windows Vista Beta 2. However when i come to
install it, it checks to see wether it is compatable with my system. It says
that i need to update the device 'D347PRT SCSI Controller'. I know my
graphics card is only 64MB, could this be the reason for the problem. Meaning
that i will need a new graphics card. I understand that Vista must be run
with a graphics card with at least 124MB, i think.

Many Thanks

I have already updated the drivers, but it still shows the same message, so i
persume it could be a hardware problem.

Hi I have exactly the same problem and I don't think that is a video card
problem (I tested with integrated one instead of external one, same problem)
but maybe it's a problem with chipset or processor. My computer is a NEC 6610
with a pentium D 930 with chipset 945G

This has nothing to do you with your graphics card.

It's the driver daemon tools uses to create virtual drives. You don't need
this driver to use windows vista. You can just ignore it.

ahh i am using deamon tools to mount it so that would explain it. but it
doesnt give me an option to ignore it, it says i must update before i can
continue. But i have already updated it to the latest. If i were to copy the
installation files onto a dvd, would it work then?

Many thanks

You could ignore it but the installation will not work. When you need to boot
on the DVD the PC restart each time. The DVD burning is OK, tested on 4
different PC and each time on PC with Pentium D (830 or 930) and chipset 945G
this is not working (restart loop). Bios upgraded without changes. Jonmassie
what is your processor and chipset please ?

Hi thankyou for helping me

My processor is an 'AMD Athlon 64 Processor'

im not sure how to find what my chipset is when i right click on my computer
and choose properties it says

Acer Inc.
AcerSystem
AMD Athlon 64 Processor
3000+
791 MHz, 1.00 GB of RAM

and it is Windows XP, Home Edition, Service Pack 2, i used the Vista update
programme on this laptop and it says there where no problems with putting
vista on it, however i would need a new graphics card for the aero interface.
This is because mine is only 64mb when i need i think a 128mb.

Many Thanks

Hey,

I am having the same exact problem. I am wondering If I should go and ignore
the warning.

Can someone let me know if this has worked for you by ignoring the error?

If not, What should I do.

Thanks

Hi there

I am the one that started this thread

And i have managed to resolve the problem.

Mount the image ISO and open the folder with the setup files etc in from the
My Computer menu. Transfer all this Data staright to a DVD.

The next time you come to Setup, you will be able to continue pass that part
of the installation. It worked for me. Apparantly it was a problem with
mounting drivers or something.

Im willing to answer any more questions.

Kind Regards

Jonathan

Hey Jonathan,

I have tried to install the from the DVD I have made before I attempted to
do this via daemon tools. When I tried that, I received some error, It also
crashed my system.

But when I made the same try now, I get the same error as with the Daemon
tools. Do you think I should try burning the ISO the way you suggest?

Thanks
Uday
BTW Thanks for the quick reply.

I think i understand your problem

Ill give you a step by step if it helps of how i did it

1. Mount the vista ISO using Deamon Tools

2. Open My Computer, and Locate the forged disk with the Vista setup files on

3. Copy all of the Data from there straight onto a DVD. I used Nero 7, and
chose Make a Data DVD. Dont choose an option where it would take those data
files from that mounted drive, and have it put into another ISO on the disk.
I did this the first time when i chose Burn image to disk, which was an
obvious mistake. So just have the data from that drive straight onto the dvd
disk.

4. Call the disk anything you want, it doesnt matter.

5. Wait a while for it all to Copy onto the DVD disk.

6. Once done, make sure your DVD is in your DVD drive. Go to My Computer,
open your DVD drive and your Setup file for Vista should be there. Double
click that and your setup for vista has started. Make sure when you locate
your DVD drive that you dont go on your mounted drive, you are best
unmounting the ISO on Deamon tools first to be on the safe side. Make sure it
is the Physical DVD you have just burnt that you run the vista setup from.

I hope my small tutorial will help you, let me know if you need any more
assistance, and wether you get it to work.

Kind Regards

Hey Jonathan

I have fixed the problem also.
I have tried the installation with a clean install of windows. That seemed
to have fixed it for me.

I have a problem. The install says I need an update to D347PRT.sys to
upgrade. I have tried to uninstall it but every time I re-boot windows
re-installs it by stealth.

If I uninstall it and run the upgrade then after about three hours (I think
I get very near to the end) The system re-boots what I suspect is the last
time and comes up to BSOD. At which point I tried to re-boot into safe more
with net working and the system BSODs again.

On the other hand it rolls back very nicely and restores my XP Mediacenter
install.

I have an HP a1250n Athlon 64 x2. I think the SCSI driver is used by the
motherboard but I cannot tell for sure. It may be part of the RAID controller
which I do not use.

Any help would be appreciated.
