Problem: iexplorer.exe remains in memory after exiting...

Hi!

Here's my problem's description: I'm launching Internet Explorer, then
closing it, but it still remains in memory. I mean, it's visible in Task
Manager. If I'm launching one more(or several) copy, they also are stood in
memory after closing.
Quesion: Is it IE bug or I have some worm on my comp?

My IE configuration:
Version: 6.0.2811.1400.xpsp1.020828-1920
Update versions: SP1; Q822925; Q828750;

Thanks.

If the process is iexploreR.exe (note the R) then you have malware.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.

Hi,

Yes, there were several third party adware programs. They were registred
from HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper
Objects\. I deleted keys and files manually and problem was corrected.
Thank you very much.
