Problem changing passwords on XP workstations connected to NT doma

I have a network that looks like this.

HP5300 core switch, two remote closets with HP2500 switches. The core
switch is layer 3, IP address 10.1.168.0/24. The remote switches are on
segments 10.1.169.0/24 and 10.1.170.0/24. The NT BDC is on the core segment.
The BDC is running DNS and WINS services. The core also has a router
connecting it via a T1 WAN link to the PDC (segment 10.1.100.0/24) in another
building.

Windows 2000 workstations can logon to the NT domain and change their domain
passwords from any segment. XP workstations can only change their passwords
from the core segment 10.1.168.0 where the BDC is located.

Any idea whats wrong?

it could be the DNS issue. have you used nslookup to check the status of the DNS?
