Hi, I have sucessfully imported my contacts from Excel into outlook contact
folder and everything is showing fine. When I click on address book all the
contacts come up. However everytime I try to send en email to somebody in my
address book the email comes straight back saying that it has been unable to
deliver to that address.....if I manually type the adrdress in it sends ok.

Whats wrong with my address book?? Help please..

Importing probably did not resolve the addresses. Open one of the contacts
you imported and to whoich mail won't deliver. Is the "E-mail" field
contents underlined? If not, change a character in that field by deleting
it and adding it again (for example by deleting the final character and
typing it in again), then click Save and Close. Now can you use the contact
to send mail?

When you mapped your fields - did you map the email address in the Excel
file to the Outlook "E-mail" field or "E-mail Address" field (or
alternatively - E-mail 2/Email 3 & corresponding E-mail 2 Address/E-mail 3
Address)? (It should have been mapped to the <E-mail Address> component of
the <E-mail> field at which point Outlook would have automatically filled in
the correct value for <-E-mail Type> field).

Suspect that if you look at the "E-mail Type" field - it's either blank or
otherwise contains an invalid value. In most cases for standard email
addresses, the <E-mail Type> field should show a value of <SMTP> (without
the brackets).

Hi Brian

Yes the Email field is showing the correct email address on all contacts and
its underlined! Could it be something else?

Hi Karl

Yes I checked this and I have done it all correct as you said the first time
round but still not working. My email accounts are 'pop' so could it be
something wrong with the server and not my outlook?

#1 - Would have been nice to have kept the thread complete to include the
original message if I responded before to this topic

#2 - If ......
a) your E-Mail Type field shows as SMTP and
b) Brian's suggestion doesn't make a difference in terms of email
being sent unless you completely re-type your email addresses THEN

only thing I can think of is that somewhere in either your E-mail
Address or E-mail Type field, you have some garbage characters either
before or after the field. Can't see it being a profile/server
issue since you state that it works fine when you manually enter the same
email address
(assuming you also have one email account since you didn't state
otherwise). Short of testing your Excel file data that you imported on
another
system - there is no way for anyone to begin to exclude
"potential" issues. Just because something "looks right" doesn't mean that
it is and over
the years, people have sent us all kinds of data that "looked
right" until it was reviewed at the byte level ESPECIALLY when the original
data
was created by another program versus being manually created (have
no idea if that's the case with your Excel file).

It still might be resolution. Try the change I suggested anyway.

You're welcome. The problem, as I tried to point out, is that you imported
them. Importing often creates non-working items in Outlook. I realize that
there are times you need to import, as from another application, but
importing is problematic nonetheless.
