Printing troubles with Lexmark Z51

R

RdP

I have a Lexmark Z51 Inkjet Printer and all of the sudden it started
printing really bad. It looks like their are lines missing, because I can
only see partials of the letters being printed. My first thought was an
empty cartridge, so I replaced the black cartridge with a new one. That made
it even worse. Very little was being printed after I changed the cartridge
with a new one. Then I removed the black cartridge again and tried printing
some (black) text with the color cartridge only. This also came out very
bad, so I doubt it's a cartridge problem.

I tried different drivers (I'm running Windows 2000). I cleaned the bottom
of the cartridges, this made the printing a little bit better, but far from
even acceptable. I cleaned the encoder cable, but all to no avail. I think
this must be a hardware problem because the printer was working fine just a
week ago. If anyone has any suggestions which might help to solve my
problem, please post!

Thanks in advance,

Rob

have you tried taking the printer cover off and looking at the
carriage(it's where the cartidges park when you turn your printer
off). If it's dirty, clean it.
I have lexmark 3200/z43/z53/z65n/z65p/p707 and most of them had this
problem. Remember to clean the rubers that wipe the printheads in that
carriage.

OR

you have a faulty cartidge. Do some cleaning cycles and make sure that
there aren't any clogged nozzles.

OR

reinstall the drivers

OR

clean the bottom of the cartidge with a soft cloth with water (gently)

OR

trash it ;)
