Printing on CD's

I have an Epson R380 Photo Printer. It prints on CD's and DVD's. I'm looking for
blank media which is printable right up to the hole in the blank. When I print,
I like to print to as close to the hole as possible. In fact, I've made copies
of CD's for my car, and scanned the original CD then tried to use the resulting
scan to print onto the CD, but the area around the hole does not have the
printable surface. Does anyone know of a manufacturer out there that makes a
completely printable blank? Thanks.

Ritek and a few other companies best thing is to look on a website for
full face printable, which is what they call it when the white goes
right up to the hole edge. I don't know where you are but I am
assuming the US, so pointers i give you for websites might not do much
good, but at least you would know what to look out for. This is a list
of printable cdr and if it is full face it says so. Notice sometimes
there is a small warning of rings etc which can mess up full face
prints.

You'd have to look at online sites as local stores probably don't
carry such CDs or DVDs. I have stacks of 8x DVD-R that are printable
almost right to the hole, there's about 1/4" of space from the edge of
the hole to the printable area.

Also do you know for sure your printer can do it? Some printer may
refuse to print real close to the hole unless you manually specify the
printable area allows that.

I'm not sure what your definition of affordability is, but Rima has some of
the best prices on the net. Better than most seller's "sale" prices.

You get what you pay for.

I'm not in America but it seems we in the UK pay more generally for
everything, just about. I've some TY dye discs and they're fine, but
nothing exceptional and not worth the roughly 50% more I paid for them
unless they happen to last at least 50% longer, and that remains to be
seen :O)

I have tried TY's but my opinion is Verbatim is very close in
reliability. Do you have verbatim in the UK.. How is price? I just got
(not printable) 50 DVD-R for $12.99, they seem to be on sale regularly
for $14.99 at BEST BUY, a chain in the US. Also I just bought inkjet
hub printable CD's and DVD's (Verbatim) from Meritline.com...For a
decent price, about $15 per 50.. Verbatim have a very good reputation,
I have burnt hundreds and have had very few coasters.

Verbatim... let's see.

Oh yeah, I don't think I've tried any (for some reason I get the name
mixed up with Imation..., yeah, I know)
Cheapest seems to be silver top at £9.99 for 50, that uses MCC 03RG20
dye
the TY dye 16X silver top is roughly £12 for 50
printable is £15 for 50 with MCC 03RG20 dye or same discs with glossy
printable surface works out at just short of £18 for 50

TY unbranded silver tops are about £14-£15.50 for 50 and between
£15.50-£18 for 50 white or silver printables... and a tub of 50
watershield TY comes in at a staggering £30!

The panasonic TY dye discs i tried were around £15 for 50 where the
Ritek G05 discs come in at around £8 for 50 printable

So as long as they say "hub printable" they should be alright? I see some on
eBay for a decent price that say "hub printable". Also, how are the ones with
the silver printing surface as opposed to white? Thanks.

Try SVP at http://svp.co.uk/ and look for 'Full-Face-Printable'
Lots to choose from
I have found SVP to be very competitive price wise, with good customer
support

:O) Don't be fooled. The website I printed the link to earlier is very
good for giving you the correct disc info etc, plus they leave
people's reviews of discs etc on even if they're lousy. Take a look

http://tinyurl.com/uok2s

just choose the category of dvd at the top and more info for any you
wish to know something about, reviews on the bottom of each disc's
page
