Printing from IE and Outlook Express 6

I have looked over the Community Newsgroups and can not seem to find an
answer to my problem. I am using Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2
with all available updates installed. I am unable to print from Internet
Explorer or Outlook Express. I can print when using the FireFox browser. I
do not seem to have any problems printing from Word, Excel, etc. Also, I can
copy text into Microsoft word from the Internet Explorer and print the
documents. I have Norton Internet Security 2004 on my computer with
up-to-date definitions and also have Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta 1 on my
computer. Both programs show no viruses or any sign of spyware.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

What happens when you try to print from IE or OE? Post any error messages
in their entirety.

No error messages. Just blank pages come out of the printer. I have
reloaded printer drivers, tried different printers, etc with no luck.

Is this a sudden, new problem or an ongoing one, CJ? Did it start after
installing Firefox?

Is Firefox chosen as your default browser at Control Panel > Add/Remove
Programs > Set Program Access and Defaults?

No, this in an ongoing problem. Firefox is not the default browser. I just
installed this program to see if I could print any internet documents, which
I could. I normally always use IE.

Have you any idea when this problem first reared its ugly head and what
changes you may have made to your system just before it started (e.g.,
installs/uninstalls of applications or updates; new printer, etc.)?

1. Try this =>

IE: View > Encoding > Auto-Select (uncheck, if checked)

2. Reinstall Windows 5.6 Scripting Engine
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp

3. If you have a Norton or McAfee application installed (e.g., Norton
AntiVirus/System Works/Internet Security; McAfee VirusScan/Internet
Security), disable it temporarily to see if it may be interfering.

4. Try troubleshooting this printing problem us the "Clean Boot" technique:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316434

5. Run a thorough check for Hijackware:

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
