Printing from a dos application to a shared printing in windows 2000

I currently have a customer that has a custom written DOS
application that prints fine to a OLDER OKIDATA Microline
591, they have replaced that with a new OKIDATA Microline
591 and it doenst print the first page of the reports, so
far okidata has been no help , any ideas, also the file is
only 10k and it takes several minutes to print
any help would be greatly appreciated
if I put the old printer back in it works fine, except for
the slow spooling, if you print directly to the printer,
and do not print spool, it doenst print at all?
