Printers and win xp.

Has anyone managed to install a Lexmark X73 printer in
winxp.Worked well in win98se.Now add a printer wizard
does not work-error message 1075-the dependency service
does not exist or has been marked for deletion.
Seems to be linked to something called Remote Procedure
Call Judging by the number of postings about this it
seems to be a problem ,has anyone resolved it yet.Have a
new computer with win xp already installed,but after 2
weeks of trying to solve this nearly ready to throw the
towel in and admit defeat.
I am on a beginners computer course so printing info is
important to my progress.
can anyone help

You haven't uninstalled the previous installation correctly. See Bruce
Sanderson's article and because it's a Lexmark, pay particular attention to
his special section on Lexmark printers.

When you've finished reboot the PC. Download a new driver package from the
Lexmark website (www.lexmark.com) and install the software. Do NOT
reconnect the printer until the software tells you to do so.
