printer sharing

Steve

I have a small network in the office running a combination
of XP, 2000 and 98se machines. The printer is set up as a
shared resource on an XP machine. It can be seen by all
other XP and 2000 machines but not by the 98se machines.
The Firewall (ICF) is disabled on the host machine.
However, it can be seen by the 98 machines when set up on
a different host running XP.
Any ideas anybody?

I have seen a couple of posts regarding the print share name length. Make
sure the share name is 12 character and has no spaces.

If that has already been addressed, are the XP versions both XP Pro or is
one Home?

Anything different in the network routing? Hubs, routers, IP address range?

Are shared files on the XP system that can't be seen by 98 accessible by the
same 98 machines?
