printer sharing problem in XP

Hello, I'm having a problem sharing a Lexmark inkjet printer attached to an
XP PC on a home network. The kids have a PC with Win 98 installed on the
network, & everything is working fine except the XP printer share.

Both PC's are in the same workgroup, TCP/IP, etc., etc. The Win 98 machine
can see the printer, just not use it.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I believe you have to have the Win98 driver for the printer installed on the
Win98 machine. (Your XP machine will not have a Win9x down-level driver
available.)

It (the driver) is installed on the Win 98 machine. Any other ideas?

Thanks.

I can't duplicate it here to verify, but if I remember correctly: on the
Win9x machine, create a local port and then tell it to spool RAW format to
the Lexmark.

good luck!

Thanks, I'll try that.
