printer preferences

Can anyone tell me the difference between "Spool print
documents so printing finishes faster" and "Print
directly to printer" settings? I've searched all over and
can't find an answer. Just what exactly does "print
directly to printer" mean? Any & all help is greatly
appreciated. Post here or reply to me
(e-mail address removed).
Thanks,
Beth

Print directly to the printing bypasses the spooling process. You will not
be able to use the application until the job has completed on the printer
and no other applications can print until the other application is done
printing.
