Printer not working

Hi All,

I have 2 WinXP SP2 machines on my network that are unable to print to our HP
LJ 4300dn via a direct TCP/IP connection or through a share from the server.
All the other PCs on the same network can print to it correctly.

I've checked and updated the printer driver, network connections,
re-installed spoolsv.exe, deleted and reinstalled the printer and it's Ports.
.. . . etc, etc.

When I try to print a test page, I get the following message;

I'm sure you've tried this, but download the new driver from HP and
when you setup the printer, select "replace existing driver"... Also,
you can try connecting directly to the printer (via USB or parallel)
and see if you can print that way....just to troubleshoot...

I also have had this problem on several XP SP2 machines. We have tried all
of this:

1. Reboot
2. Install latest HP drivers on server and workstation
3. Install printer as a local TCP-IP workstation on the workstation
4. Manually delete all of the cached drivers and registry entries for the
IP of the printer, the printer name, and the printer model.
5. Delete the drivers out of server manager on the workstation, then stop
and restart print spooler.
6. Relocate the print spooler
7. Older drivers (HP laserjet III, 4, and 5si)
8. Logging in as another user (including Administrator)

The funny thing is that it seems to be limited to our HP Laserjet 4350
printers. The user can print to our Savin printers with no problem.

I've had to rebuild several workstations because of this, and it's getting a
little old.

We're also getting Error 23 - Print. What's really interesting here is that
even after deleting the problem printers, when we stop and restart the print
spooler they continue to show up in event viewer with event id 23 - Print.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Print
Event Category: None
Event ID: 23

Series PCL 6 driver could not be found.

There is a printer in the registry named Malibu

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Contol\Print\Printers

Either add the driver so you can delete the printer of remove it from the
registry
