Printer Margins

Terry Smerling

For some reason when I print in certain applications (IE6, Outlook 2000 and
Outlook Express) for some, but not all, documents I am unable to print
within margins, i.e. the document is cut off on the right and left margins.
It appears that the margins are controlled by the creator of the document,
Within these applications, I am unable to reset margins; however, I can
reset margins one print job at a time using print preview. I have two
printers: an HP Laserjet 1200 and an HP PSC 2175. My printing problem is
the same with both. The default margins in these applications are .25
inches for right and left and .166 inches for top and bottom. This is
especially confusing for IE6 because in my register default margins for IE6
set in the registry at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\PageSetup are .75 for all four margins. Any ideas or suggestions
would be appreciated.

Hi, Terry!
The IE and OE print margins are set by launching IE and the "File >
Page Setup" command. Make sure that the paper size (format) and margins
are correctly set both in the IE dialog and in the associated Printer
dialog.
Hope this helps.

No, tried that. I change the margins in page setup, but they immediately
revert to some other default, which is .166 for the left, top and bottom and
..33 for the right. The problem also exists in Outlook, which is not
controlled by IE.

Hi, Terry!
Did you check the printer's own page and margin settings?
