printer installation problem. HELP PLEASE

I get- function address 0x0 caused a protection fault exception code
0xc0000005. the application property sheet page may not function properly-
when i try to set printing preferences on my computer, then it freezes with
an error send message

The error indicates that you do not have the correct printer driver installed.
Use an updated driver from the manufacturer's Web site:

there are some printers
that are not compatible
with winxp and sometimes
we take for granted that they
are.

it might be that the manufacturer
has not written a printer driver
for winxp and or with emphasis
for win-xp sp2.

if they have, then their website
would have the updated drivers
as Mark suggested and reiterated.

further, the site for your printer
should also have faq's discussing known
issues and resolutions.

keep in mind that windows
only needs the "printer driver" and not
any specialty software that may also be
available for the printers.

don't be surprised if the printer
was compatible with win-95 or
win-me but no longer compatible with
win-xp.
