I was working on my friend's computer trying to print a report from an older
dos based program. Nothing seemed to come out so I went to a cmd prompt and
tried to redirect a DIR command to the printer as in DIR > PRN .From that
point on, nothing will print and the spooler is shutting down by itself. I'm
assuming the redirected output is the problem. When I click for details it
indicates that SPOOLSV.EXE is shutting down and it references the following
document.
Docume~1\Sheri\Locals~1\temp\wer6d75.dir00\appcompat.txt
There were 15 to 20 other files in the folder, including SPOOLSV.EXE.MDMP
Assuming that this txt file is the output of the redirect, can I safely
clear out the contents of the temp folder or will that get me into more hot
water.
