Windows Vista Print Spooler problems

When trying to print I get the following messages.....

Printer not communicating with PC

Print Spooler has stopped working app and was closed

I have tried various remedies, all to no avail

Printer (Lexmark X1270) is working OK as I attached it to another PC
and it was fine

Services indicate that the Spooler is on automatic and in started position

Have installed new driver to printer
