Did you try starting it?

From the Command Prompt, type

net start spooler
(and hit enter)

I have a similar problem, maybe y'all can help me. I have
an HP deskjet 3550, W2K, Dell Inspiron 3800, connected via
USB 2.0 PC Card. Print spooler hangs. I can't delete
print jobs. I try to restart the print spooler service, I
get this error: Error 12: access code invalid. I believe
I'm always logged on with Admin access. The service can't
be started, and I have to restart Windows, just about
every time. This is getting ridiculous. I've been running
around in circles with HP support, reinstalled drivers,
etc, then they sent me to MS'website. Great, thanks. I
have SP 4 and all updates. Any ideas?
