Print Port Types: Local Port -- Where is it?

Ryan S.

Ok. I think I'm losing my mind. I usually add network
printers to my XP/2000 computers by adding a local port
and then mapping this port to the \\server\printer.
(KB - 282842)

All of a sudden, when I attempt this on several
computers, the Local Port is missing from the list of
possible ports.

The only options I have for ports are:

1) OLFax Ports

2) Standard TCP/IP Ports.

What I am missing?

I checked this out on computers that I have even
sucessfully done this to in the past and even they no
longer give me an option for a local port.

Thanks in advance.

I think Local port is on the list if you are on the correct
screen/windows to create a port. It is a port type rather than a port name.

Highlight any printer on Printers and Faxes list; select Set printer
properties from window on left. Ports. Add Port. Go from there.

Hope that is what you need. I am absolutely sure I lost what was left of my
mind quite some time ago.
