Press f1 to continue

My computer always says "press f1 to continue" on boot-
up. No error message is displayed. It boots and
operates fine after pressing f1. How do I fix this
problem?

Thanks.

This is a hardware issue with your PC and has nothing to do with Windows XP.
Look at any messages on screen about anything like keyboard failure etc.
Otherwise contact the hardware vendor of support.

Is there any way to identify the source of the error
message? Since the error message is blank, I don't know
what hardware device to check/replace.

Usually your PC reports what is causing the condition that requires you to
press F1 to continue.
You may wish to contact the PC vendor for more details.

On a recent Xp Install for a client I had the following message:

IDE Channel 0 Master : PIONEER DVD - RW DVR-110D 1.37
IDE Channel 0 Slave : MAXTOR STM3160212A 3.AAJ
IDE Channel 1 Master : None
IDE Channel 1 Slave : None
Floppy disk(s) fail (40)

Press F1 to continue, DEL to enter SETUP

This is because I did not install a Floppy Drive because who would need one? Right.

I went into SETUP and in the Standard CMOS Features changed the value for Floppy Drive A to not installed and then F10 to Save to CMOS and EXIT

Voila no more Pesky message just straight boot

now all you have to do is find what failed in your system and change the relevant setting in SETUP

Hope this Helps
