Pre-scan for bugs with Genuine Advantage purchase

I want to purchase a license for WinXP Pro from Microsoft - under their
Genuine Advantage program. However, I might have caught a virus or worm
that one of their security patches might have caught. Does anyone know if
there is a pre-scan for bugs before applying the WGA? I don't want to have
to re-format and install Windows and all my apps from scratch.

Hi,

Scan with the antivirus software of your choice, just make sure the
definitions are current. The WGA process and purchase of a license has
naught to do with buggy systems.

Yeah, after all WGA is a bug in its own right!

The problem is that I think I contracted something about one week ago - and
it appears to be something that a very recent Microsoft security update
would have caught. I have run McAfee and about five spyware programs.
Nothing showed up - which leads me to believe that it's too early for McAfee
and Norton, etc. to have come up with a fix. I don't want to purchase the
license for an OS for which I might have to reinstall. I have too many apps
and it would literally take months to reconstruct my system.
