( Only applies to 2007 version ) : - -
Right click on the pps > click NEW. You are now on edit mode.
PS. Should you want to, or you can't finish editing, you could do SAVE AS >
choose ppt format.

How do I switch from a pps to a ppt for editing?

Open the PowerPoint application. Then go to the File > Open (for 2003 and
earlier) or Office button > Open (for 2007). Then you can File > Save As
(for 2003 and earlier) or Office button > Save As (for 2007). Finally, while
you are saving as, you can change the file type to ppt. However, if you just
want to edit and keep it as a pps, skip the Save As part, and it will stay
as a pps when you save. Finally, in 2003 and earlier, you can also just
change the file extension from .pps to .ppt and then double-click on the
file (this does not work in 2007).
