PP 2007 Does't Save in Slide Show View

When I save my PP 2007 as a normal presentation, it uses the .pptx
suffix. If I do a save-as in the slide show view, it saves in the
..ppsx format. However, there does not seem to be any difference at
all between the two files when they open. They both open with the
Home tab selected. Am I missing a step here? How can I get it to
open in the slide show view?

When you double-click the file to open it, PPTX opens in normal edit view,
PPSX opens in show view. If you're already in PPT, then Office Button | Open
just opens either file format in normal edit view.

That's really interesting. Like you said, if I double-click the PPSX
file using Windows Explorer, it opens in show view. If I double-click
the PPSX file when PowerPoint is already open, it opens in normal
view. Strange.

PPT's behaved the same way since forever, give or take a few geological era.
The extensions now have the X on the end, but PPT vs PPS files work the same
way.

The data inside the files are the same (you can keep just the one file around if
you like; doubleclick it to open in show mode or start PPT and open it via the
menu to edit it.
