PowerReg Scheduler not opening

B

Bryan

After I downloaded the Windows XP Service Pack SP1, I am
getting a temporary freeze when I startup my computer,
and then a message stating:
'Windows cannot open the file: PowerReg Scheduler.RBO.
Windows needs to know what program created it to open it.'

I found from searching on the web that PowerReg
Scheduler.RBO is checked off as a Startup Item under the
Startup tab in the System Configuration Utility(SCU) menu
window. The SCU can be accessed by entering 'msconfig' in
the run slot.

Can I delete the existing PowerReg Scheduler.RBO and load
a new one from the web, or just uncheck it from the
startup list in SCI?

Spyware Alert: POWERREG SCHEDULER.EXE

PowerReg Scheduler.exe and PowerReg SchedulerV2.exe are installed along
with PowerQuest's Partition Magic. It is based upon Leader Technologies'
Register.exe and PowerRegister products. Leader Tech advertises these
features:

"Generating reports of your user's data."
"Create customer profiles."
"Create A Valuable Database of Customer Buying Habits"
"Two-way data transmission and communication is supported."

This is spyware. We recommend removing it.

Go here, Pest Patrol, has instructions for manual removal of PowerReg
Scheduler.

Google for SpyBot, Ad-Aware. These are practically manditory for
computer users. Try one or both and see if they handle this.
