Powerpoint with video files = Temperamental

Why is it that Powerpoint seems to be so unreliable with embedded movie
files? Sometimes they play, then the next time I open up the file, they
don't. I move the file, with the embedded movies with the powerpoint file to
a different computer, or a laptop to take to a presentation, and they don't
work. I put it onto a computer to project, and the entire computer crashes -
you can't escape out of the presentation, or the program. Not even Ctrl ALT
DELETE works to end the program. Powepoint is basically utterly unreliable if
you wish to have embedded movie files playing, and I sincerely hope that
microsoft dramatically improves this rather arcane piece of software.
