Powerpoint viewer don't play embedded sounds

Using Powerpoint 2000, I made up a presentation with slides that
contain embedded sounds. I recorded commentary about the slide
directly into each slide. I moved the little speaker that appeared
off the slide into the margin. Custom animation was set to play the
sound 1 second after page loads. The presentation works fine on all
computers that contain a Powerpoint program.

However, on computers that have only the Powerpoint viewer 2003,
downloaded from Microsoft, the sound does not play automatically. If
I place the little speaker icon back onto the slide, I can get it to
play by clicking it in the "viewer".

How can I get it to play automatically on computers that only have the
Powerpoint viewer installed?

This should definitely work in viewer 2003. Can you post what your custom
animation pane says or email me the pres and I'll have a look later.

Joe emailed me the file and the sound didn't play in the viewer. Its set to
play after previous with a 4 sec delay.

I opened the file in powerpoint 2003 and resaved it with no change and now
the sound plays in the viewer.

I guess it something to do with 2000 but I dont have it to try.

That stirs a faint memory ... I think there was a bug like this ... something
or other from 2000 wouldn't work in the Niewer Viewer until you saved it from
2003.
