Media won't play twice!

I have a PowerPoint presentation in which there are multiple links to the
same slide, which is set to play a sound automatically when the slide is
opened. My problem is that the first time a link loads this page, there is
no problem. However, after that, any subsequent links to the same slide do
not trigger the audio file to play unless I click the sound file manually.
This same problem exists for video content. Is there a way to ensure that
EVERY time the slide is opened it will automatically play the media, rather
than just the first time? Thank you in advance.

The normal fix for this problem is to put a blank slide right before the
slide with the sound. Have the blank slide automatically transition to the
next slide after 0 seconds. Make all links to the blank slide.

What happens is that once the sound is played, any subsequent links to the
slide go to the slide in its finished state. By advancing to the slide,
rather than linking to it, PowerPoint resets the state of the slide and
starts over.
